Geneva – Ethos has launched two dialogue programs to increase the sustainability of Swiss as well as internationally listed companies. This adds to an increased awareness and growing member pool of the company.
Ethos, a Swiss foundation for sustainable investments, operates its dialogue program Ethos Engagement Pool Switzerland (EEP Switzerland) for the exchange with Swiss listed companies according to a recent statement the foundation released.
At the end of 2017, a total of 132 members held assets totaling 200 billion Swiss francs. Ethos conducts around 30 meetings with representatives of these companies each year. This should increase awareness of the environment, social affairs and corporate governance (ESG) issues. In the past year, progress has been made especially with regard to climate change, as 53 companies have already announced the implementation of reduction targets. Compared to 40 companies in the previous year the foundation was able to increase the uptake of its recommendations by over 30 per cent.
The EEP International program was launched in early 2017. Since then the program has grown rapidly in size with 19 members joining within the first year and an additional seven institutions since early 2018. Overall, EEP International participated in twelve engagement initiatives last year. Seven of them were in the environmental field, three in the social sector and two in corporate governance.
